A surprising encounter at the train station
Posted by admin in General

This morning, I was taking my regular long morning walk into the city. The walk takes me past a series of gardens, and along a main road that passes a major train station. We all know that train stations are lures for all sorts of performers, magazine vendors, and buskers, and today was no different. Amongst the throngs of business people stoically making their way to work, huge coffees clutched in their hands, newspapers crumpled beneath their arms, I could hear the sound of someone singing. . .was it. . .yes, opera.
Curious, I took a few steps closer to see that the singer was a middle-aged woman in a wheelchair. She was dressed vibrantly, in woolen knits in bright colors that melded into a fabric rainbow, and her face even though full of Botox was rich with emotion as she sang. I couldn’t be sure whether she was professionally trained, but her tone was certainly better than anything I’d ever be able to create! Slowing my pace a little, I watched as the business people and uniformed school students passed her by, their attention fixed on getting to where they needed to be on time, or on whatever was blasting through their iPods.
But then, and you can imagine my surprise, a punk rocker emerged from the crowd. His Mohawk stood several inches high, and his clothes jangled with a huge assortment of studs, buttons, and pins. He approached the busker, and she smiled at him as she sang. I was astounded to watch him place a $10 note in the basket in front of her.
The whole incident served as a reminder that there are so many goodhearted people in the world, and they aren’t always the people you expect them to be. Sometimes, if you put out the right feelings and thoughts, you’ll get them back in response several times over.
Just stumbeled upon this competition where the prize is three valleys ski. Everybody must enter, I am determined to win this!
